A behind-the-scenes look at sustainable making!
At A Silver Circle, sustainability is more than a buzzword — it’s at the core of how we create. One of the most powerful things about working with metal is its ability to be reborn again and again without losing quality. And that’s exactly what we do: give silver a second life.
♻️ Why Recycled Silver Matters
Mining silver comes with a heavy environmental cost — from habitat destruction to chemical runoff. By reusing existing silver, we reduce waste, minimise our environmental footprint, and breathe new life into every offcut and scrap from the studio.
Instead of throwing away leftover silver from past creations, we carefully collect and recycle it — transforming it into fresh sheets of workable metal that become rings, pendants, earrings, and more.
🔥 Step-by-Step: How We Recycle Silver in the Studio
1. Collecting Offcuts and Scraps
Every little piece matters. We gather all the offcuts, filings, and unused silver bits from our studio work. These scraps are pure sterling silver — perfect for melting and remaking.

2. Melting in the Crucible
The collected silver is placed in a crucible (a heatproof container) and heated using a jeweller’s torch until it reaches its molten state — a glowing, liquid pool of silver.

3. Pouring Into a Mould
Once fully melted, the silver is carefully poured into a cast iron ingot mould, where it quickly solidifies into a bar or block. This is the raw foundation for something new.

4. Rolling into Sheet
After cooling, the silver bar is fed through a rolling mill — a heavy-duty tool that flattens and stretches the metal into thin, even sheets. These sheets are what we use to handcraft new designs.

This process can be repeated again and again. Silver is infinitely recyclable, making it one of the most sustainable materials to work with in the jewellery world.
🌏 Crafting with Care
When you wear a piece of our recycled silver jewellery, you’re not only choosing something handmade and meaningful — you’re choosing something better for the planet. Every recycled piece carries its own story, with the marks of transformation and intention woven into its form.
We believe in creating pieces that last — pieces that are not only beautiful but responsible.
