Moon Drop has Landed!

She has finally arrived! This Collection has been something on my mind for some time and I am so glad it has come to fruition in such a beautiful way. The process of inspiration and design is something i love to explore and love to read about how others explore this process, so this months blog is all about the meaning and exploration of design for the Moon Drop Collection.

I have always been fascinated by the Moon and it’s cycles. From its influence on the tides, to growing plants (see any Farmer’s Almanac), to how the energies affect our daily lives. This practice i have been exploring along with a group of friends who i share my learnings with. For over a year we have been following the Moon Cycles each new and full moon and tapping into intention setting at the New Moon and releasing at the Full Moon. It has been a great way to connect regularly and support each other to grow and evolve in new ways.

This year I have stepped up that study and have been diving deep into Astrology with a Mystic Astrologer Apprenticeship. It has been such a ride and as it is coming to an end as i post this blog, it has been such an exploration of learning and tapping into my intuition and i love that this piece is a symbol of this time of my life.

The Moon Drop has been in the back of my mind this year as I have been exploring this topic. I wanted to create a piece that symbolised the journey of learning and how much influence the planets can have in our lives.

The Moon symbolises the starting off point of my learning and it being the influential mother who is guiding us in our everyday lives, making us change and evolve. The Moon in Astrology is a feminine energy representing our emotions and feelings. Silver is always associated with the moon and the feminine so I love that connection to my material of choice.

There is a saying related to Astrology ‘as above, so below’ and this is in reference to what is happening with the planets above us have an impact on us on earth. The grounding Drop part of this design is about that ‘so below’ aspect and how we are impacted by the planets. The Drop is also a symbol of grounding and securing our energy to the earth to help support us and hold us as we ride the tides of these planetary influences.

Choosing to integrate crystals/stones in the collection was also of high importance. The first stone i chose to use is my favourite: Amazonite. This stone is all about Calm and Hope which has been something that has helped guide me through the 6 months of this course. I look forward to exploring this collection with more stones and see how its meaning can evolve and change.

The process of creating the elements in this collection was one of continual trial and error, with lots of small sketches in the margins of my daily lists to full sessions of mapping out all the elements i wanted to include and how they relate to each other.

When designing and creating jewellery, there are so many factors that need to be considered and it’s a balancing act of concept, aesthetics, construction and wearability. The textures chosen in this collection accentuate the moon theme and let the colour of the stone pop. All specifically chosen to bounce off and enhance each other.

If you would love to see the progress of the creation of the first Pendant in this Collection, check out our Reel on Instagram here.

I have loved the journey of this collection and look forward to seeing how it evolves. If you need one of these pieces in your life be sure to grab them quick as each stone has a limited quantity.

Please share what you connected with most about this collection either here or on our Instagram or Facebook pages.

The Signs are clear!

Symbolism is something all around us, but how often do we look into the meaning of these symbols or the history of their origin. There have been so many ancient symbols retained and commonly used today. Symbols have power and it is this inspiration that was the driving force behind the Signs Collection.

Bringing the meaning and energy of symbolism combined with the power of semi precious stones, this collection is here to help guide and facilitate the wearer. From wanting to attract wealth, repel negative energy, be open to change or to ease a frantic mind, the 4 sets of pendants and earrings of the Signs Collection are here to help.

The outside shape of these pieces were inspired by the forms of door ways and arch ways. Passing through a door of a spiritual building is said to cleanse someone of the past and let them move towards a brighter future. I really liked this idea and how it not only drew from my love of Architecture but also embodied the overall theme of creating an energetic shift.

PROTECTION

This piece was the driving force of the collection. As someone who has had a hard time being around too many people all at once, I wanted a pendant that was easy to wear and layer that was going to repel all those negative energies and keep me grounded when out in the world. The Eye of Horus was the perfect companion symbol for it, as well as a Black Tourmaline stone.

Delve into the meaning behind each element to bring more Protection into your life.

Eye of Horus – Known also as the Wadjet, this magical symbol is believed to provide protection, health, and rejuvenation. Due to its powerful protective powers, the Eye of Horus was popularly used by the ancient Egyptians, both the living and the dead, as amulets. Even today, the Eye of Horus continues to be used as a symbol of protection.

Black Tourmaline – Black Tourmaline is a protective stone which repels and blocks negative energies and psychic attack. Black Tourmaline also aids in the removal of negative energies within a person or a space. Black Tourmaline will cleanse, purify, and transform dense energy into a lighter vibration.

ABUNDANCE

As a small business owner, i have always been looking for ways to bring more abundance my way as income in this line of work can be so sporadic. So i wanted to bring that energy of the Citrine stone (which i always have in the money corner of my studio) to a piece you can carry with you. I found i was drawn to the Hamsa before i had any idea about its meaning. Once i read its history, i really resonated with it and found it was a great pair with Citrine to embody the energy of abundance.

Read a little more about each element to bring more abundance, wealth and happiness your way.

Hamsa – The Hamsa symbol also represents the hand of God, is believed to promote health, happiness, good luck and fortune. There is also the ancient belief that wearing a Hamsa symbol will intercept negative or evil energy. If negative or evil thoughts are projected at you, the Hamsa symbol will ward off the evil energy and protect you from negative energy or even harm.

Citrine – Citrine energises every level of life.. It cleanses the chakras and opens the intuition.  Citrine attracts wealth, prosperity and success.

CALM

This piece is one that was very familiar to me as I have been working with Amazonite stones for a little while now and love wearing its calming energy. I wanted to enhance this energy through its pairing with the Lotus Flower to really embody the feeling of being in a mindful or meditative state. With so many of us rushing from one thing to the next (myself included), it was essential to find that reminder of stillness and coming back to centre.

Lotus – The meaning of the lotus flower symbol is derived from the flower’s life cycle, where all humans are born into a world of suffering where they must learn to overcome difficult times so that they can become a better person and reach spiritual enlightenment. A common symbol used in yoga and meditation to represent calm of mind.

Amazonite – This stone is also referred to as a Stone of Truth and Stone of Courage, as well as creating a calming energy. Amazonite is empowering, facilitating self-discovery, self-awareness and the ability to embrace one’s own integrity and truths.

Bring more tranquility into your life with the Calm Earrings and Pendant

TRANSFORMATION

This piece was one that just fell into place. Something that most people can find quite scary. I being Scorpio embrace the changes that happen in our lives as a guide to a better place. Sometimes change is hard and we need to be reminded that from those dark places, there is light and there is so much to look forward to. This piece embodies that positive energy of transforming. Whether its your mindset or your situation, something big or small, these little releases can guide you to some amazing things.

Scarab Beetle – Egyptian religion the scarab was also a symbol of immortality, resurrection, transformation and protection much used in funerary art.

Labradorite – A stone of transformation, Labradorite is a useful companion through change, imparting strength and perseverance.  It balances and protects the aura, raises consciousness and grounds spiritual energies.

Bring positive change into your life with the Transformation Earrings and Pendant.

I hope you all have been as inspired by symbols as i have in the exploration of this collection. We would love to hear from you! What are some of your favourite symbols and why. Reach out on our socails or via the comments box.

It’s all about Maya..

Explore the unique fan shapes of pre-Colombian history with our new Maya Collection! Combining simplicity and elegance with the spiritual symbolism of this rich culture, these pieces will definitely draw the eye! This collection is the result of months of careful experimentation, sketches and research, with the aim of reviving this long-lost culture with a modern twist.
As history tells it, jewellery was considered a vital part of the Mayans trade with other neighbouring civilisations. Hence the name; the Maya Collection.

One of the most common ritual ornaments of the period, worn by warriors and priests alike, was the Nariguera (nose fan), a gold piece that was often hooked to the nostrils and was in the shape of an upside-down fan decorated with patterns and engravings. The elite would often wear them as pendants depicting gods or animals. This served as a key piece of inspiration for the Collection’s design process.

Jewellery also played a key part in this tribal narrative as it symbolised religious and ritual meanings. Many pieces from this period were made from gold which had an association to the Sun and was a powerful symbol of fertility. These pieces were also used in ceremonies to protect the community and cure sickness. In contrast, we have used sterling silver- the colour associated with the moon. As a of bringing something new to the design while also maintaining its historical roots.

The design process of these beautiful pieces started in Corinne’s studio where she would often lose herself in books on pre-Colombian tribal cultures. Like some of our past pieces, including the Navajo and Blue Lotus Collections, the story of these old cultures really caught her eye. She was fascinated by their unique shapes and stories which she later incorporated into the collections designs.

After multiple sketches and prototypes, Corinne settled on two earrings and pendants. Handcrafted with recycled sterling silver, these pieces come in both an Oval and Fan shape. The juxtaposition of space creates balance through the open form of the oval/teardrop shape with the solid structure of the hanging fan. Her main goal however, was to pay homage to the beautiful and intricate design of this tribal jewellery while embracing modern textures and techniques.

So whether you wear these pieces with your vintage finds or with your chic office attire, these pieces are easy ways to elevate any look! Wear them alone or together, as these pieces are wonderfully versatile! Our pendants can also be worn as the centre piece of a layered look or as a single statement piece. Embrace your inner tribal beauty with your own flare or draw inspiration from our styling and pair the pieces with patterned scarves and kits, and your favourite vintage finds.

In our journey to explore the roots of our jewellery-making ancestors we have really enjoyed designing these pre-Colombian pieces. We hope you love them as much as we do! Head on over to the shop page to check out the Maya pieces. We would also love to hear your thoughts on how you combine things old and new in your daily life, please tag us on Instagram or Facebook, with you favourite styles. Until next time…

From Egypt with Love

The Blue Lotus Collection will immerse you in Ancient Egyptian culture through vivid colours and traditional gemstones. This collection was developed through a process of experimentation and sketches aimed at achieving a harmonious balance of minimalistic shapes and bright colours, integral to Egyptian culture.

Corinne has found herself drawn to stories of this ancient world. From documentary series to books, her inspiration flowed as her intrigue grew. The symbolism behind popular stones became a central part of each design, mixing different colours and elements to form different pieces. The simplistic bases of recycled sterling silver allow the alluring gemstones to shine, each with their own energy and meaning.

The Blue Lotus Flowers were major inspirations to Corinne throughout this collections design process. Native to Egypt, these gorgeous flowers are depicted in many ancient artworks, rituals and carvings. They represent the sun and some even see it as a symbol of the universe itself.

The collection features three sets of earrings and two necklaces that vary in their length. Each piece is comprised of a beautiful sterling silver drop shape that surrounds 3 colourful interchangeable stones. The Red Agate, Turquoise Howlite and the Lapis Lazuli. Each stone was chosen for is significant meaning, colours and complementary properties. These pieces are extremely versatile and are a great addition to any collection.

Red Agate is a protection stone which shields you from negative energies. This calming gemstone will help you feel grounded during stressful or emotional times. Something we all could use in our hectic lives. The colour red also represents the power and energy of our life blood.

Ever feel a little down? The Turquoise Howlite reduces anxiety, tension and anger while emitting a calming energy. A perfect reminder to take time for yourself and relax! The soothing properties of this stone allows the flow of positive communication and mindfulness.

In ancient Egyptian culture the colour blue also embodies the sky, water, the heavens, creation and rebirth. For this reason, we used the Lapis Lazuli which also symbolises honour, spirit and vision, providing you with the wisdom to embrace inner truths.

Corinne explored the meanings behind these colours and experimented with many different combinations. The beauty and divinity of this collection balances elegance with a touch of boho style as a modern take on Egyptian culture.

So, embrace your inner goddess and wear these stones with confidence! Add some vibrant colours to your day outfit or enhance your night look with these elegant pieces. Whether you wear them separately or all together, you can’t go wrong!’

We have really enjoyed immersing ourselves in the fascinating culture of Egypt and finding inspiration in its symbolism and aesthetics for this collection. Don’t forget to tag us in any pictures you share; we love to see how you style your jewellery! Tag @asilvercircle on instagram, we can’t wait to see those Egyptian jewels shine!
